Unlike traditional waxes a ceramic coating chemically bonds to the vehicles surface which is why it will outlast a wax coating. Due to the bonding nature of a ceramic coating the vehicles surface does require more preparation to allow it to bond properly, including decontamination, machine polishing to remove defects and residue removal with an appropriate panel wipe before application can begin.
